Well-proven system now also for medium-sized structures
For more than 10 years HORSCH has been building the Focus line which over the years developed continuously due to different requirements and customer requests. The wide range of different equipment options allows for adapting to various conditions. With the Focus 3 TD HORSCH now offers a 3 m version of the well-proven StripTill line for all markets.
The main characteristics of the Focus family are deep loosening of the soil with targeted fertiliser placement combined with exact sowing – all in one pass. To achieve this, we used well-proven components from the HORSCH seed drills and tillage tools. Thus, you can reduce passes, preserve your soil but mainly you can keep important humidity in the soil.
Why a Focus 3 TD?
So far, it has been possible to carry out strip tillage with the Focus TD line with working widths ranging from 4 to 6m. To make sure that there is a suitable machine for every farmer – even for smaller and medium-sized farms with the corresponding tractors – HORSCH now also offers the Focus 3 TD. It is the optimum solution for tractors around 240 hp.
But efficiency is not the only advantage for the farmer. Another asset is the high flexibility in the crops and when adjusting the exact working and fertiliser placement depth. The combination of several work steps in one machine allows for working far more economically as you can save passes. You can flexibly and easily vary the working depth of the tines as well as the sowing depth, place fertiliser at a depth of 25 cm when sowing rape, but also more shallowly when sowing wheat. The row spacings, too, can be varied. You cannot only work with a tine spacing of 30 m when sowing rape, but also with 15 cm when sowing cereals.
As standard, the Focus 3 TD is equipped with a double hopper with a capacity of 3,500 l and a partition of 60:40. It can optionally be extended by 400 l with the MiniDrill version G&F. The optional MiniDrill PPF allows for applying a third component on a third horizon.
In wet years like 2021 you can also apply slug pellets with the PPF version while sowing. This additionally increases the efficiency of the machine as up to 3 components can be applied the respective horizon.
Mariusz Podulka runs a 200 ha farm in Silesia with different types of soil. He mainly grows wheat, rape and other crops.
“After the demonstration of a pre-series machine last year, I this year bought a Focus 3 TD and I have already sown 40 ha of rape – directly into high cereal stubbles and without any previous preparation with a compact disc harrow. With my 200 hp tractor I easily achieve an operational speed of 10 km/h, 8-9 km/h in heavy soils, with a working depth of 25 cm. The simply handling is really great.”
