Fortis AS: flexibility redefined

Based on the increasing demands on a universal cultivator, HORSCH creates a new cultivator product with regard to efficiency and flexibility.

With the Fortis AS, HORSCH launches the new cultivator generation in 6, 7 and 9 m working width and thus extends the product range in the tillage sector. The objective was to not only meet the requirements on a universal cultivator, but to even exceed them to further increase efficiency and precision.
On the one hand, the Fortis AS can cope with the increasing tractor powers and requirements of the farmers and on other hand offers more variability with regard to the working depth. Due to the wide range of point and wing options, the cultivator can be used for a wide range of applications from tillage at 4 cm to primary soil cultivation up to a depth of 30 cm. The 27 cm tine spacing is not only ideal for shallow tillage and an all-over cutting in all situations but also takes the requirements on the low horsepower requirement for deep primary soil cultivation into account.

Flexibility for individual requirements

The working depth of the cultivator can either be adapted to the respective requirements by means of the clip system or fully hydraulically in the cabin. The compact 4-bar design ensures a perfect levelling. To guarantee the quality for the large working width, the fourth bar was moved towards the rear. Thus, there always is enough fine soil in front of the levelling discs resulting in an optimum work result. The robust design of the cultivator ensures a long service life.

With regard to the packer options, the focus is on flexibility. The customers can choose between different packers. This wide range allows for adapting the cultivator perfectly to individual requirements and situations. Due to the combination of numerous option possibilities, the machine can be customised to the farmer’s requirements.

Fortis AS in Hungary

The main crops in Hungary are winter cereals, maize, sunflowers, rapeseed and soybeans. Efficient machines are required to prepare the heavy soils optimally for seeding. Currently, the Fortis AS are working over there in all three working widths.

István Balázs tested the Fortis 9 AS on his farm in Oszkó in Western Hungary:
“On our farm, we use very large tractors with up to 670 hp. This requires larger machines which are stable and robust. Moreover, it becomes more and more difficult to find enough staff. The combination of a working width of 9 m and the power tractor is a very efficient solutions for us. The machine convinced us mainly due to the excellent levelling. The cultivator mixed in harvest residues without any problems and left an even field. Thus, the field was optimally prepared for seeding.“
