Versa 6 SW: precision even in difficult conditions

The seed wagon combination Versa SW with a 6 m working width mainly excels due to the various options for adapting the machine to different condition. In Denmark, farmers already gathered positive experiences with the rotary power harrow combination.

Heavy or extremely changing soils always are a challenge with regard to seedbed preparation and seeding. Often only a power harrow can manage to produce enough fine soil. The Versa 6 SW teams efficiency – due to a high hopper capacity – with an adaptable intensity for seedbed preparation – by using a power harrow. In addition, the newly developed seed wagon of the Versa SW can also be combined with other sowing system. Besides the power harrow, it can also be equipped with the single grain technology of the HORSCH Maestro and with the Taro SL, a coulter bar for seeding cereals without front tools.
The new 6 m power harrow combination consists of four parts that interlock seamlessly. First, the front tyre packer reduces tracks by distributing the machine weight across the whole working width. The pto-shaft driven rotary harrow Kredo ensures an intensive tillage even in difficult conditions. The specifically developed tines of the rotary harrow have been designed for an aggressive cultivation of hard soils. The working depth and the seeding depth can be adjusted independently. The following combination of packer and TurboDisc seed coulter ensures a precise seed placement. The trapeze ring packer forms a perfect seed furrow especially in difficult conditions. The press wheel controlled coulter design allows for a quick contour following even at high operational speeds. Thus, the placement depth is kept up for every single grain.

Quick facts

  • Targeted consolidation with packer systems that are adapted to the field ensures optimum sowing conditions and water connection of the seed furrow
  • Flexible 3-point in the rear of the seed wagon allows for attaching an Express 6 KR, Taro 6 SL or Maestro RV
  • During road transport, the tyres can be moved hydraulically below the folded power harrow and thus allow for a compact road transport position with a positive vertical load
  • Single hopper with a capacity of 4 000 l and double hopper with a capacity of 5 000 l guarantee utmost efficiency

High flexibility

The 3-point linkage in the rear of the seed wagon helps the farmer to increase the flexibility on his farm enormously. It allows for attaching the Maestro and Taro lines as well as the new Sprinter SL and Avatar SL.
With its flexible options, the new Versa 6 SW sets a new standard in the market for power harrow seed drills and excels due to its high seeding precision as well as to the flexible combination options and the individual equipment like a hydraulically pretensioned side packer or the G & F double hopper system that allows for simultaneously applying two components like seed and fertiliser.
Due to the hydraulic adjustment, the road transport concept is eligible for an EU registration.  With this seed wagon concept, the tyres can be move hydraulically below the folded power harrow and thus allow for a compact road transport position.

Denmark

Farmers in Denmark look back on longtime experiences with different seed drills in combination with rotary harrows. The Versa 6 SW is ideal for the heavy soils in the Danish sugar beet regions. The soil there is often cultivated very intensely. In only one pass, the machine carries out the task of seedbed preparation and sowing with utmost precision and high capacity.
One of the first pre-series machines was used in Denmark in the past season – the feedback and experiences of customers and dealers was very positive.

“With the unique flexibility and the various options to adapt to individual soil conditions, the machine will achieve an exclusive position in the market“, Håkan Westesson, the HORSCH responsible for the Nordic countries, explains.
