Transformer VS – a new, compact hoeing device

Based on the experiences of the Transformer VF line, the new Transformer VS excels due to optimised hoeing units and an innovative compact design.

With the Transformer VS, HORSCH extends its portfolio with a compact hoe that impresses with its precise operation and the robust design of the hoeing units. The Transformer VS has been developed to meet the requirements of the market and the desire to hoe also narrow row spacings. The Transformer VS allows for a mechanical weed control in all crops with row spacings from 25 cm to 30 cm.

New units

The objective was to develop a durable, robust device that would still work precisely after many years of use. The Transformer VS is equipped with new units that are an optimisation of the standard hoeing unit. These new developments are based on the experiences of the VF line. The affix VS stands for “Variable Small” what refers to the new compact and simple design where the hoeing point is mounted closer to the depth control wheel.
The machine is equipped with one depth control wheel as well as one point per hoeing point. Thus, the hoeing unit can optimally follow uneven soils to ensure an optimum work result. The advantage is that the hoeing point precisely follows the depth control wheel in a hollow or in a track. In addition to the standard depth control wheel, it will also be available as a narrower version what is particularly advantageous in case of narrow row spacings and high-growing crops.
The integrated slide frame allows for guiding the Transformer precisely along a crop. Moreover, the compact design adds to saving lifting power and allows for working also with smaller tractors.

Minimisation of the pivot points

The depth adjustment with less pivot points is now included in series production. The minimisation of the pivot points at the same time reduces the potential for problems. Thus, the hoeing unit can also work precisely with regard to height control.
The working depth can be adjusted easily and without tools. In this respect, we benefit from the depth adjustment of the Avatar line which has already proven its worth.
As an option, the Transformer can also be equipped with the individual row lift function RowLift. The individual hoeing units can be lifted precisely manually or automatically with GPS control and are lowered again with pinpoint precision. The parallelograms lift automatically at field boundaries, on the headlands in case of overlapping or in a pre-defined area. This ensures a constant work quality across the whole field.

Moritz Lampe has already used the Transformer VS on his farm in Lower Saxony: “If weeds are already well established in a small stage, the hoe can work without damaging the crop”, he explains. Especially in wet winters or springs, mainly in heavy soils, it often is not possible to use a harrow at the optimum time. Hoeing with a Transformer, thus, is the ideal measure for mechanical weed control. Even in crusted soils the hoe excelled due to its precise work.
