Leeb Xeric 14 FS: pneumatic fertiliser spreader for highest demands
With the Leeb Xeric 14 FS, HORSCH presents its first pneumatic fertiliser spreader which impresses with its precision and efficiency.
The Leeb Xeric 14 FS sets new standards. The first pneumatic fertiliser spreader made by HORSCH combines an impressive capacity with precision as well as efficiency and benefits from the excelling boom control system BoomControl from the crop protection sector. It is a natural completion of the HORSCH product range and a reaction to agronomic challenges.
Precision and efficiency
The Xeric provides a solution for various challenges in the sector of fertiliser application. To make optimum use of the short window, the efficient technology of the pneumatic fertiliser spreader excels due to short filling and high work rates and thus reduces transport times. With a capacity of 14 m3 and working widths up to 48 m, it sets new standards in the market.
Especially in windy conditions and with large working widths, the distribution accuracy often suffers. The Xeric ensures a precise and efficient cross and longitudinal distribution of the fertiliser across the whole working width independent of outside influences. In hilly terrain, too, the Xeric impresses with its precision.
Low-wear fertiliser transport
The innovative metering concept reduces wear and thus running costs to a minimum. In the boom, the fertiliser is transported via PE tubes. After the fertiliser has been metered, gravity makes it fall into the air stream and it is transported in the boom via air to the respective outlet. As the fertiliser is transported in an almost straight way, wear is very low. Moreover, the demand on the quality of the fertiliser that is used is rather low.
The innovative vertical load distribution allows for emptying the rear part of the tank first and then the front part to transfer as much vertical load to the tractor as possible and to avoid lifting the tractor. The tandem axle chassis that has already proven its worth in the Leeb 12 TD ensures maximum contact area and free movement and, thus, contributes to protecting the soil while at the same time being highly manoeuvrable.
Quick facts
- Unique, active boom control system BoomControl
- 14 m³ central tank and up to 48 m working width
- Tandem axle unit with very large tyre diameter up to 2.19 m for optimum protection of the soil and at the same time maximum manoeuvrability
- Centrale and low-wear metering with variable quantity control and curve compensation
For highest demands
In Northern Germany there are many medium-sized and large farms that often have to struggle with windy conditions. Especially in these regions, farmers are looking for machines that excel due to their precision and long service life and are reliable with regard to use and application.
“The requirements of this market on the machine is enormous“, Andreas Plottke from the HORSCH sales team in Northern Germany explains. He does not only appreciate the easy operation of the Xeric but also the combination of precision in windy conditions, stability also in hilly terrain and large working width. The Xeric, thus, does not only meet the requirements of the market but also sets new standards.
In spring 2023, Johann Rieve worked with the Leeb Xeric on his farm near Stralsund (Northern Germany):
“We used the Xeric to spread approx. 1 500 ha urea in wheat and barley in different growth stages. The work rate of the spreader combined with the precise boom control and the large tank capacity impressed. The latter makes you less dependent on refilling fertiliser at the field boundaries. Especially on our farm, we have to apply fertiliser pneumatically because of the frequent wind. This is where the spreader shows its advantages. Moreover, the straight fertiliser transport in the boom ensures low wear.“
