15 years HORSCH Ukraine

About 40 % of all maize and sunflower crops in the Ukraine are sown with HORSCH Maestros. The success story began 15 years ago.

HORSCH Ukraine was founded in June 2009. Since then HORSCH:

  • developed from a newcomer to the market leader in the seeding technology sector
  • adapted the product portfolio to the soil and climate conditions in the Ukraine
  • developed several machines together with Ukrainian farms which have become series products
  • built and opened its own sales and training centre with an area of over 4,000 m2
  • created their own demo garden with an area of approx. 20 ha
  • maintained a stable position among the top 3 export markets
  • initiated social projects and supported them with a total of over 1 million €
  • maintained the business and the growth trend even in wartime conditions

This journey started with three employees and the delivery of machines to the farms of foreign investors in the Ukraine. The co-operation with the first two sales partners, Astra and Ropa, began in the year the company was founded. Poletehnika was added as a sales partner in 2010 and Zolochiv TX in 2015.

The best-selling machines at that time included the Tiger and the Pronto. Together with Poletehnika, the Pronto NT line was developed which is specially customised to the requirements of the Ukrainian farms. Since 2012, the Pronto NT has been one of the best-selling crop seed drills over there.

The Maestro, too, has been a huge success since 2012 - to this day, HORSCH is the market leader in single grain seeding technology.

Together with the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), HORSCH Ukraine has been carrying out quality tests on independent test fields since 2018. In these tests, the Maestro ranked first in terms of safe and even emergence in extremely dry conditions. In 2019, the Maestro SX was one of the top machines with regard to operational speed in combination with high seeding quality. A particular highlight: in 2024, it set a record by seeding over 6,000 ha of maize in a single season.

The Focus, too, is highly appreciated due to its water-saving technology and the precise fertiliser placement for rapeseed cultivation. The various digital solutions are also very popular with Ukrainian farmers.

The self-propelled crop care sprayer Leeb VL with high ground clearance and a wide track width was developed in response to requirements from the Ukrainian market. In 2024 alone, 25 machines of this model series were sold and delivered.
HORSCH Ukraine attaches great importance to strong service and long-term partnerships. The annual sales partner and customer training courses at the company's own training centre are extremely important in this respect. In addition, there are exhibitions, field days, winter seminars and numerous demonstrations as well as visits with sales partners and customers at the Sitzenhof.

Because of the war, HORSCH Ukraine's previously positive growth initially stagnated. However, the company remained active in order to support its customers. It also initiated social projects and more than 800,000 € have gone into them since the beginning of the war despite the difficult situation. This commitment was rewarded: although about 20 % of the agricultural land has been lost since the outbreak of the war, sales as measured by land are now almost back to pre-war levels. Plans are already underway to expand the site.
