Welcome

Dear Reader

Autumn and spring were characterised by extreme weather conditions. In Great Britain and large parts of France, it was very wet. The result was that some winter wheat was not sown and seeding spring cereals was a real challenge. Other areas of Europe, e.g. Bulgaria, suffered from drought. So there are more and more weather extremes that we have to cope with in agriculture to continue to secure the world's basic food supply. We therefore need to develop technologies and new cultivation methods, among other things, to react quickly and efficiently as soon as the weather allows for it. At the same time, farmers develop new economic sectors to adapt to political or regional requirements. In this issue, we introduce you to farmers and companies who - each in their own way - meet the many challenges they face.

The year 2024 is a special one: 40 years of HORSCH. In retrospect, the years have passed far too quickly and in the day-to-day business I often did not realise how much everything has developed and how, in the course of these 40 years, the small workshop with a big vision has turned into a global company. We are grateful for this intensive, interesting time. We belong to the first generation and our objective is to lead the company safely into the next generation. We are doing this together - step by step. It is important for us to respect each other and learn from each other. In summary, we are very confident that we can do this together and we are looking forward to the coming decades!

Enjoy reading this issue of terraHORSCH!
