Welcome
Dear readers
A turbulent, challenging year 2022 is drawing to a close. In the agricultural sector we can count ourselves lucky that we work in a sector that guarantees a safe job and a secure existence.
Even if the eating habits will continue to change in the years to come, every square meter of soil will be necessary to make sure that the world’s population can be fed, to guarantee the basic feeding of the Third World by affordable crop prices and thus to avoid waves of refugees. In this respect, agriculture and politics bear a great responsibility to all people all over the world. Especially politics can exert an enormous influence.
Agriculture, of course, has an effect on nature and climate, but we will not solve the problems sustainably by political constraints and restrictions.
Farmers are looking for creative ecological solutions to farm in an environmental-friendly way. In Brazil for example the farmers themselves develop microbiological fungicides and insecticides. Unfortunately, science has only dealt with these topics to a minor extent in the past years. The agricultural sector absolutely needs support and expert knowledge in this respect.
As a manufacturer of agricultural machinery, we, too, are always amenable to new ideas and constantly work on different approaches and methods to contribute from the technical side so that farmers can work sustainably and in an environmental-friendly way, but also, of course, efficiently.
I hope you will enjoy reading this issue. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year 2023 which hopefully will bring peace again. Our thoughts are with all the people who suffer from the current crises.
Cordially
Cornelia Horsch
